The Sinking City 2 Builds and Loadouts

Last verified · TSC2 Wiki

A The Sinking City 2 build is four talents — one round slot, three diamond — plus the two weapons you actually feed. The three loadouts below cover the situations that kill most runs: getting surrounded, running dry, and playing on Sleep Demon.

Cross-checkedConfirmed against several independent walkthroughs of the build 1.0 (launch build, August 2026) on August 22, 2026. Codes and sequences in this game are fixed, not randomised per save. If a patch changes this, tell us on the contact page and we will re-check and re-date the page.

Build 1 — Survive the corridor

For: players dying to being surrounded, especially in Akeley Hospital and the wreck in chapter 4.

  • Round slot: the strongest survivability talent you can afford — Deathless Vigor is the common pick.
  • Diamonds: recovery and damage-mitigation effects.
  • Weapons: Field Surgeon shotgun plus Equalizer Mk. II handgun.
  • Habit: knock down, then stomp. Free damage.

This is the default recommendation for a first playthrough.

Build 2 — Ammunition economy

For: players who keep arriving at fights with nothing to fight with.

  • Round slot: whichever efficiency or recovery effect reduces your consumption most.
  • Diamonds: weak-point damage and anything that rewards focused aim, since focus is the studio's own recommended route to efficient kills.
  • Weapons: Equalizer Mk. II as primary, shotgun as the emergency button.
  • Parts: weak-point conditions on the handgun — how parts work.

Pairs naturally with avoiding fights, which is a legitimate tactic here rather than a concession.

Build 3 — Sleep Demon

For: the hardest difficulty, on a second run with progression carried over.

  • Round slot: survivability. On Sleep Demon a single mistake ends a fight.
  • Diamonds: two survivability, one economy. Damage is the thing you can afford to give up.
  • Weapons: Bucking Bronco if you have it, plus the shotgun.
  • Rule: fight nothing you do not have to. There is no true stealth build in this game, but avoidance is close enough, and Sleep Demon rewards route knowledge more than reflexes.

Remember that difficulty is switchable at any time with no trophy penalty — the modes explained.

Weapons are half the build

No The Sinking City 2 build survives spreading ammunition across six guns. Pick two, put your best parts on those two, and let the drops concentrate.

The ranking behind that advice is on best weapons: the shotgun and the handgun carry most runs, with the revolver as the heavy answer if you own the Premium Edition.

Building across two playthroughs

A single run of The Sinking City 2 cannot afford the whole tree. Treat run one as the story-and-survivability run and Ex Oblivione Mode as the one where you experiment, since you carry progression into it and the codices are there anyway.

The platinum roadmap assumes exactly that split.

Adapting between chapters

The three diamond slots are the adjustable part of any build, and swapping them between chapters costs nothing but a visit to a safe room. The enemy mix genuinely changes — hospital corridors ask different questions from the docks, and the caves in Cold Comfort ask a third set.

A reasonable rhythm is to review your four slots at the start of each chapter, then leave them alone until the next one. Constant fiddling wastes time you could spend searching for the essence that would let you afford another talent outright.

What we will not pretend to know

Being verifiedThese builds are organised by category because we can source the system — four slots, four tiers, the currencies and how they are earned — without having verified every talent's exact numbers. Where we name a talent, it is one we can point to. We are not publishing a full numeric tree we have not confirmed.

The Sinking City 2 FAQ

What is the best build in The Sinking City 2?

Survivability in the round slot with a shotgun and handgun pairing is the most reliable first-run setup. Beyond that, build for whatever is actually killing you.

Can I change my build later?

You can change which four talents are equipped at the Talent Table. Frogwares has not confirmed a full respec of unlocked talents.

Do I need a specific build for Sleep Demon?

Survivability over damage, and a willingness to avoid fights. Route knowledge matters more than any individual talent.
