The Sinking City 2 Fuse Box Puzzle Solution

Last verified · TSC2 Wiki

Slot each fuse into the opening cut in the same shape: the I-shaped fuse in the straight slot, the T-shaped fuse in the T-slot, and the L-shaped fuse in the corner slot. There is no hidden ordering and no code — the puzzle is testing whether you found all three fuses.

Rule Shape of fuse = shape of slot

Cross-checkedConfirmed against several independent walkthroughs of the build 1.0 (launch build, August 2026) on August 22, 2026. Codes and sequences in this game are fixed, not randomised per save. If a patch changes this, tell us on the contact page and we will re-check and re-date the page.

What the fuse box puzzle actually asks

This is the first real puzzle in The Sinking City 2 and it is deliberately gentle: the power box has three empty slots, each cut in a distinct silhouette, and three fuses exist that match those silhouettes exactly. Put each one where it fits and the power comes back.

Almost every report of this puzzle "not working" is a missing piece. The box will happily accept two fuses and do nothing, which reads like a failed solution rather than an incomplete one.

Step-by-step

  1. Sweep the room and the rooms either side of it. The fuses are ordinary lootable objects sitting on shelves, benches and in drawers — they are not hidden behind a puzzle of their own.
  2. Open the fuse box and look at the three slot shapes: one straight bar, one T, one right-angled L.
  3. Place the I fuse in the straight slot.
  4. Place the T fuse in the T slot.
  5. Place the L fuse in the corner slot.
  6. Pull the switch. Power returns and the door or lift you were blocked by becomes usable.

Where the fuses are

All three are within the immediate area — this is not a fetch quest across the district. Check work benches, the shelving along the walls, and any container you can open. If you are short one, the missing fuse is usually in the adjoining room you have not entered yet rather than the room with the box in it.

It is worth doing a full sweep anyway: the same rooms hold notes that feed the Investigation Space, and early Dream Essence is what gets your first talents online before the difficulty climbs.

If the power will not come back on

  • Count your fuses. Three slots, three fuses. Two filled slots does nothing at all.
  • Look again at the shapes. The T and the L read similarly at a glance in the dark; the L has a right angle, the T has a crossbar.
  • Pull the lever after placing them. Placement alone does not always restore power; the box needs its switch thrown.
  • Turn up brightness or use the lamp. The Sinking City 2 is a dark game and the slot silhouettes are genuinely hard to read at low gamma.

What the fuse box teaches you about the rest of the game

Frogwares uses this first puzzle to set expectations for everything that follows. Three rules start here and hold for the whole run.

  • Solutions live in the world, not in a menu. Shapes, dates and symbol orders are things you look at, not things you calculate.
  • Incomplete looks identical to incorrect. Missing one component gives the same silence as a wrong answer, so when a mechanism seems broken, count your pieces before you doubt the solution.
  • Searching pays twice. The sweep that finds the third fuse also finds notes and evidence, and evidence is the currency behind talents. Rushing the fuse box costs you build progression later.

The very next mechanism you meet, the trident obelisk, applies exactly the same logic with a document instead of a shape.

The Sinking City 2 FAQ

What is the fuse order in The Sinking City 2's power box?

There is no order. Each fuse only fits the slot cut in its own shape, so I goes in the straight slot, T in the T slot and L in the corner slot.

I placed the fuses and nothing happened

You are probably missing a third fuse, or you have not pulled the switch. The box gives no feedback for a partially filled panel.

Where do I find the fuses?

Loose on shelves, benches and in containers in the immediate area — usually including one in the adjoining room rather than the room holding the box.
