The Sinking City 2 Prism Puzzle: Blue, Yellow and Pink

Last verified · TSC2 Wiki

Each prism station is solved the same way: rotate the prism until the coloured symbol lines up with the marker of the same colour — blue to blue, yellow to yellow, pink to pink. The stations are spread across Akeley Hospital, and each colour opens a different part of the building.

The rule Colour of symbol = colour of marker

Cross-checkedConfirmed against several independent walkthroughs of the build 1.0 (launch build, August 2026) on August 22, 2026. Codes and sequences in this game are fixed, not randomised per save. If a patch changes this, tell us on the contact page and we will re-check and re-date the page.

How the prism stations work

The hospital chapter hands you the Prism and then asks you to use it at fixed stations rather than freely. At each station you slot the prism in and rotate the assembly; a coloured symbol travels as you turn it, and the station accepts when that symbol sits on the marker painted in the same colour.

The three colours in play are blue, yellow and pink. They are not a sequence to memorise — they are three separate locks, each with its own station, and you can solve them in whatever order the hospital lets you reach them.

Step-by-step at any station

  1. Insert the Prism. The station is inert without it, exactly like the obelisk without the trident.
  2. Identify the marker colour painted or lit on the receiving side.
  3. Rotate until the matching symbol lands on it. Work slowly — the symbols are close together and the hospital lighting is deliberately bad.
  4. Confirm. The beam locks and the corresponding door or shutter opens.
  5. Take the Prism with you. You need it at the next station.

Where the stations sit in the hospital

Akeley Hospital is built as wings around a central spine — reception, the east and west wings, the morgue, the pharmacy, the chapel and the isolation wards. The prism stations gate movement between those blocks, which is why the chapter feels like it loops back on itself: you clear a wing, find a station, and the station opens a door you walked past twenty minutes earlier.

If you are working through the area in order, the chapter 3 walkthrough follows the route that keeps backtracking to a minimum, and flags the ERC crate in reception on the way past.

What we have not pinned down yet

Being verified The rule for the prism stations is settled and works everywhere: colour to matching colour. What we are still logging is a station-by-station map with the exact rotation count for each one, because the count depends on which face the prism is inserted on. We would rather leave that blank than publish a number we cannot stand behind — several sites have filled this gap with invented sequences.

If you have cleared the hospital and mapped the stations, the contact page takes corrections, and contributors are credited on the page they fix.

If a prism station will not lock in

  • You are matching shape instead of colour. Several symbols repeat across colours; the colour is the key, not the glyph.
  • You do not have the Prism. It is a carried quest item and it can be left behind at a previous station.
  • The light is too dim to judge. Raise gamma; The Sinking City 2 is one of the darkest games of the year and this puzzle suffers most from it.
  • The station is not active yet. Check your map for the current task — Frogwares' own guidance for anyone who thinks they are stuck in the story.

The Sinking City 2 FAQ

What is the prism puzzle solution in The Sinking City 2?

Align each coloured symbol with the marker of the same colour — blue to blue, yellow to yellow, pink to pink. Each station is an independent lock rather than part of a sequence.

Do I need the Prism for every station?

Yes. It is a carried item and every station is inert without it, so pick it back up after each solve.

Which wing does each colour open?

Each colour gates a different block of Akeley Hospital. We are still logging the exact station-to-wing map rather than guessing at it; the chapter 3 walkthrough covers the route in the order the game intends.
