The Sinking City 2 Game Pass question has a simple answer behind it: Frogwares self-publishes. A day-one placement is a deal a publisher makes with Microsoft, and an independent studio releasing at a deliberately sub-AAA $49.99 has an obvious reason to prefer unit sales — particularly one that has spoken publicly about developing through wartime disruption in Ukraine.

That is context, not a statement from the studio. What is confirmed is simply that the game launched outside the service.

Metacritic scores split noticeably by platform: 84 on Xbox Series X, 79 on PS5 and 75 on PC. Since it is the same game, that gap is a technical story rather than a design one — PC performance drew the most criticism in reviews, and the Series X version drew the least.

The game is listed for Xbox Series X and Series S. There is no Xbox One version, and none has been announced — see last-generation consoles.

Frogwares has not published Series S-specific performance targets. Its published PC targets — 1080p/30 on minimum hardware, 1440p/60 on recommended — are the closest official reference point.

Could it come to Game Pass later?

What the Xbox version includes
