The Sinking City 2 Face Mask Puzzle Solution

The five pieces

The Sinking City 2 face mask puzzle is a collection puzzle wearing a puzzle's clothes. There is no combination to work out: the difficulty is that the five components are spread through a building that loops back on itself, and two of them sit behind keyed doors.

Getting into the rooms that hold them

Two keys matter in Akeley Hospital: the Vertebral Key and the Caduceus Key. Between them they open the rooms that hold the later mask pieces, and both are indexed on the keys and doors page with the door each one belongs to.

You will also want Anti-Rust Acid, which the chapter hands you for corroded locks. If a door in the hospital refuses both keys, acid is usually the answer rather than a missing key.

Assembling the face

1. Collect all five pieces. The assembly point gives no useful feedback until you hold the full set, which is why partial progress reads as a broken puzzle.
2. Interact with the mask fixture. The face slots are laid out anatomically — the halves go where halves go.
3. Place the halves before the whole masks. The two half-faces make one face; the three complete masks fill the remaining slots.
4. Confirm. The route onward opens.

Sweeping the hospital before you leave

Akeley Hospital is the densest collectible area in the middle of The Sinking City 2, and chapter 3 ends one-way like every other chapter. Before the story pulls you out:

• Clear the reception ERC crate — one of the earliest guaranteed inventory upgrade sites.
• Finish the prism stations, since one of them opens a wing you may not have entered.
• Run the missable checklist for the chapter.

If the mask fixture will not accept a piece

• You are one half short. The right and left halves are two separate pickups and look almost identical in the inventory.
• A piece is behind a locked door you skipped. Check the Vertebral and Caduceus doors, and check whether you still have Anti-Rust Acid unused.
• You are at the wrong fixture. The hospital has decorative mask displays as well as the working one.
• Reload if a piece vanished. Frogwares' known-issues list covers items and enemies stuck in collision, with a reload as the fix.
• You are holding a mask you are meant to wear, not place. Chapter 3 hands you more than one mask-shaped item; only the five listed above belong to this fixture.
