The Sinking City 2 Lorelei Lock: All Three Keys
Last verified · TSC2 Wiki
The Lorelei lock needs three Lorelei keys, one from each of three chests. Take the Staff Key, open the second-floor Staff Room and collect three Lorelei tokens, then spend one token each at the chests in room 303, room 203 and the bar. Insert all three keys to open the basement.

The Sinking City 2 — quick facts
| Chapter | 2 — The Wake-Up Call |
|---|---|
| Location | Devil's Reef Hotel |
| Prerequisite | Staff Key, then three Lorelei tokens from the Staff Room |
| Chest 1 | Room 303, third floor |
| Chest 2 | Room 203, second floor — spawns four cursed objects you must destroy |
| Chest 3 | The bar |
| Reward | Access to the rest of the basement, where you shut off the hotel gas |
Start with the Staff Key and the tokens
The Lorelei lock itself is trivial once you hold three keys; the puzzle is the chain that produces them. It runs Staff Key → tokens → chests → keys → lock, and every step is in the same hotel.
Find the Staff Key first, then use it on the Staff Room on the second floor. Inside are three Lorelei tokens. A token is consumed by a chest, so you need all three before you start opening anything — a common mistake is to grab one, spend it, then spend twenty minutes hunting a second chest you cannot open.
The three chests, floor by floor
- Room 303, third floor. The most straightforward of the three. Use a token on the chest and take the first Lorelei key.
- Room 203, second floor. Using a token here spawns four cursed objects around the room. Destroy all four — they are breakables, not enemies — and the chest releases the second key. Do not leave the room while they are active.
- The bar. The last chest sits in the hotel bar. Spend the third token and take the final Lorelei key.
The rooms are locked in the ordinary hotel sense, so if a door will not open you are missing a routine room key rather than something exotic — all of them are indexed on the keys and doors page.
Opening the lock and the basement
Take all three keys to the Lorelei lock and insert them together. That opens the rest of the basement, which is where the chapter wants you: the gas has to be shut off before you can move through the lower floor safely.
This is also the point in The Sinking City 2 where the hotel stops being a corridor and becomes a loop — expect to backtrack through cleared rooms with new access, and expect an ambush or two on the way down.
What else to grab in the hotel
The Devil's Reef Hotel is dense with pickups, and chapter transitions are one-way.
- The room 301 safe, code 2137 — the chapter's numeric lock.
- The ventilation device, which is the other mechanism in this building people get stuck on.
- ERC crates — remember they need an activator pen.
- The wireless room numbers — 13, 05 and 36 — which belong to the same chapter.
Check the missable checklist before you take the story exit.
If the Lorelei lock will not accept your keys
- You have keys, not tokens, confused. Tokens open chests; keys open the lock. Three of each.
- You left cursed objects alive in room 203. The chest there stays shut until all four are destroyed, and the fourth is often behind or above you rather than in the open.
- You spent a token on the wrong container. Only the three chests above take tokens.
- You have not found the Staff Key. Without the Staff Room you have no tokens at all, and the chests give no prompt.
The Sinking City 2 FAQ
Where are the three Lorelei tokens?
All three are in the Staff Room on the second floor of the Devil's Reef Hotel, behind the Staff Key door.
Why will the room 203 chest not open?
Using the token there spawns four cursed objects. The chest stays locked until every one of them is destroyed — check the ceiling and the corners, not just the floor.
What does the Lorelei lock open?
The rest of the hotel basement, which is where you shut off the gas to progress The Wake-Up Call.
