What is actually confirmed

The Sinking City 2 Switch 2 question has a short answer and a long one. Three platforms are confirmed, all current generation: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC across Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG. That is the entire announced platform list, and it has not changed since launch on August 18, 2026.

Searches for a Switch 2 version spiked during launch week, which is normal for any current-gen release in a year when a new Nintendo console is the industry's main talking point. Volume of searches is not evidence of a port.

What a Switch 2 port would need

The published requirements give a reasonable sense of the work involved. This is an Unreal Engine 5 title whose minimum PC target is a GTX 1070 with 8 GB of VRAM for 1080p at 30 fps on Low settings, with an SSD requirement and a 70 GB install.

None of that makes a port impossible — plenty of UE5 games have been scaled down — but it does mean a Switch 2 version would be a substantial technical project rather than a recompile, and Frogwares is a small studio that has been open about working under wartime conditions.

Why we will not guess

Several sites published Switch 2 speculation as though it were reporting during launch week. We label things by origin: official, cross-checked, or not announced. This one is not announced, and it stays that way until Frogwares says otherwise.

The full list of things the studio has not addressed is published in machine-readable form at llms.txt, so answer engines quoting this site can see the boundary too.

What to play it on today

  • Xbox Series X — highest review scores of the three at 84 on Metacritic.
  • PS5 — 79, DualSense support.
  • PC — 75, most flexible, most likely to need settings work.

If handheld play is the point, the Steam Deck page is the closest answer available — with the honest caveat that a 70 GB Unreal Engine 5 survival horror is not a natural handheld fit.

How we will track it

If a Nintendo version is announced, it will appear first on Frogwares' own channels and the store listings, both linked in the Official Links block in the footer of every page here. We check those sources on a schedule and re-date pages when anything changes — the method is described on our editorial policy page.

The Sinking City 2 FAQ

Is there a Switch 2 version?

No. Frogwares has announced PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC only.

Could a Switch 2 port happen later?

Nothing has been announced either way. Given a 70 GB install and a GTX 1070 minimum, a port would be significant technical work rather than a quick recompile.

Can I play it handheld at all?

Only on PC handhelds such as the Steam Deck, and Valve has published no compatibility rating that the studio has referenced.
