The Sinking City 2 on Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG

Last verified · TSC2 Wiki

The Sinking City 2 Steam release is one of three PC options: Steam (app ID 2825860), the Epic Games Store and GOG. Steam has achievements, cloud saves and trading cards; GOG is the DRM-free option. All three carry the same three editions at the same prices.

Cross-checkedConfirmed against several independent walkthroughs of the build 1.0 (launch build, August 2026) on August 22, 2026 against all three storefront listings. Codes and sequences in this game are fixed, not randomised per save. If a patch changes this, tell us on the contact page and we will re-check and re-date the page.

The practical argument for Steam is not the store — it is that Frogwares' own FAQ and known-issues thread is hosted in the Steam discussions, and that is where troubleshooting guidance appears first. The argument for GOG is ownership: a DRM-free installer you keep.

Steam specifics

The store page lists single-player, Steam Achievements, full controller support, Steam Trading Cards, adjustable difficulty, DualShock and DualSense controller support, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. There are 23 achievements, matching the console trophy count minus the platinum.

SteamDB-style tracking is popular for this title because of the pre-launch demo and the Premium early-access window, but the authoritative details — price, editions, requirements — are on the store page itself.

What you need to run it

Minimum is Windows 11 x64, a Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600X, 16 GB RAM and a GTX 1070 or RX 5700 with 8 GB VRAM, targeting 1080p/30 on Low. Recommended is a Core i5-14600K or Ryzen 5 7600X, 32 GB RAM and an RTX 4070 Ti or RX 7900 XT for 1440p/60 on Medium. An SSD is required and the install is 70 GB.

Full detail on the requirements page.

The SSD line is the one to take seriously. It is not a recommendation in the store listing, it is a requirement, and an Unreal Engine 5 title that streams assets aggressively behaves badly on mechanical storage — long asset pop-in at best, stutter at worst. Frogwares' own FAQ already notes that after loading a level it can take a moment for props and assets to finish streaming in, and that behaviour gets considerably worse without an SSD.

The PC version's known rough edges

PC drew the lowest review score of the three platforms — 75 on Metacritic against 84 on Xbox Series X — and performance was the recurring complaint. Two things are worth knowing before you buy:

  • AMD FSR is not supported at launch. Frogwares states AMD has not released the plugin required for Unreal Engine 5.8. Details.
  • DLSS Frame Generation needs an RTX 40 or 50 series card, and on a 60 Hz display you should turn V-Sync off when using it.

Frogwares publishes its own crash fixes — verify game files, launch with -clearPSODriverCache, update drivers. All of them are on the crash page.

Language support

Fifteen languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Arabic, Czech, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Turkish and Ukrainian.

That list is identical across storefronts, so language is not a reason to choose one over another. Subtitles and interface are translated throughout; voice acting is English, which matters in a game where several clues — including one safe code — are delivered through spoken dialogue rather than documents.

Steam Deck

Valve has not published a compatibility rating that Frogwares has referenced, and we have not verified a Deck run ourselves. What is knowable from the published requirements is that this is a demanding Unreal Engine 5 title with a 70 GB SSD requirement, which sets expectations low for a handheld. See the Steam Deck page for what we can and cannot say.
